Common Defects and Maintenance Methods of Fire Pipe Clamp
2026-09-15 03:10:38
Fire pipe clamps stay in service for decades together with building fire systems.Long term exposure to humid air, condensate water and vibration will trigger various defects. The most frequent problem is galvanized layer damage and subsequent rust.Scratches during transportation and construction break protective coating, and rust gradually expands on clamp shell.Bolt loosening is another common defect caused by continuous pipeline vibration.Loose bolts weaken clamping force and reduce supporting capacity.
The rubber cushion will experience natural ageing. After years of compression, rubber hardens, loses elasticity, cracks or falls off.Once the cushion fails, metal directly contacts the pipe surface, producing friction abrasion and galvanic corrosion. In severe cases, clamp deformation and base detachment can occur, bringing risks of pipeline sagging.
Maintenance work should be arranged periodically.Inspectors visually check clamp surface for rust and rubber damage.Use tools to test bolt tightness and base firmness.Minor rust spots can be cleaned and coated with anti rust paint. If rubber cushion loses elasticity or clamp shell has corrosion pits, replacement must be arranged.
Maintenance records should be kept for fire pipe clamps.Clamps in high humidity or corrosive areas need shorter inspection cycles.Timely maintenance of these small fittings prevents large scale fire pipeline failure and maintains the reliability of building fire protection infrastructure.
