Material Selection and Service Performance of Socket Pipe Repair Clamp

The material configuration of socket pipe repair clamp directly determines its pressure resistance,corrosion resistance,temperature adaptability and overall service life,which is the core factor affecting pipeline repair quality and long-term operation safety.At present,mainstream socket pipe repair clamps on the market are divided into metal shell materials and rubber sealing materials,with different material combinations corresponding to different industrial and civil working scenarios.

In terms of metal shell materials,ductile iron is the most widely used conventional material.It has high mechanical strength,good toughness and low cost,and can withstand conventional medium pressure below 1.6MPa.It is suitable for municipal water supply,drainage and conventional civil pipeline repair.Carbon steel materials have higher structural rigidity,with excellent compression and impact resistance,and are often used for industrial low-pressure pipeline repair.Stainless steel materials including 304 and 316L grades have outstanding corrosion resistance,resisting erosion of chemical media,seawater and humid environment,and are applicable for chemical,marine and coastal pipeline projects.

The rubber sealing material is the key to ensure leakage-free repair.EPDM rubber is the most common sealing material,with excellent aging resistance,high and low temperature resistance,suitable for water supply,ventilation and conventional gas pipelines.Nitrile rubber has outstanding oil resistance and is widely used for oil pipeline and fuel medium pipeline repair.Fluorine rubber has ultra-strong corrosion and high temperature resistance,adapting to high temperature and strong corrosive industrial working conditions,meeting the repair needs of special process pipelines.

Different material combinations bring differentiated service performance.Ductile iron matched with EPDM rubber has a service life of 15 to 20 years in conventional municipal environments,with stable sealing performance and low maintenance cost.Stainless steel and fluorine rubber composite materials can maintain stable working performance in high corrosion and high temperature environments for a long time,effectively reducing the frequency of pipeline re-repair.Lightweight plastic composite materials are mostly used for household small-diameter plastic pipe repair,with low cost and easy installation.

In engineering selection,it is necessary to comprehensively judge according to pipeline medium,working pressure,operating temperature and environmental conditions.Conventional water and gas medium can choose ordinary iron and rubber combination;chemical corrosive medium must select stainless steel and special rubber materials;high-pressure and high-temperature pipelines need to match high-strength alloy materials.Scientific material selection can maximize the service performance of socket pipe repair clamp and ensure the long-term safe operation of repaired pipelines.
