Installation Process and Standard Operating Guidelines for Pipe Repair Coupling
2026-09-15 03:41:12
Standardized installation operation directly affects the sealing effect, structural stability and service life of pipe repair coupling.Irregular construction such as incomplete pipe pretreatment, offset positioning and uneven bolt fastening will easily cause micro-leakage,coupling sliding and early failure.Formulating and implementing unified operating specifications is essential to ensure the quality of pipeline repair projects.
The first step of installation is pipeline pretreatment and model selection confirmation.Operators need to clean the outer wall of the damaged pipe section thoroughly to remove rust, sediment, oil stains and floating attachments, ensuring a smooth and dry fitting surface.Trim severely cracked and deformed pipe sections to guarantee flat pipe ends and effective butt joint spacing.Select repair couplings of matching diameter and pressure grade according to pipe specification and working pressure, and inspect the integrity of coupling body and sealing gaskets to eliminate defective products.
The second step is coupling sliding and positioning alignment.Different from ordinary fixed couplings, repair couplings adopt a full-slip structure.Slide the entire coupling completely to the intact side of the pipe to reserve enough space for damaged pipe trimming and butt joint. After aligning the two pipe ends smoothly without dislocation and gap deviation, push the coupling horizontally to cover the pipe joint and all damaged areas, ensuring the sealing gasket is completely centered and fits the pipe wall evenly without inclination and offset.
The third step is graded symmetrical fastening and stress adjustment.Install fastening bolts and perform symmetrical tightening in three stages to avoid single-side excessive fastening causing coupling deformation and local sealing gaps.Control uniform torque to ensure the elastic gasket is evenly compressed, fully filling tiny pipe cracks and joint gaps.Avoid over-tightening which may crush the gasket or deform the pipe body, and under-tightening which leads to insufficient sealing pressure.
The fourth step is pressure test and acceptance. After installation completion, conduct hydraulic pressure test according to pipeline operating standards, maintain rated working pressure for 30 minutes or more, and observe no leakage,no pressure drop and no coupling displacement.Standardized construction operations can maximize the performance advantages of repair couplings, ensure long-term leak-free operation of pipelines, and reduce later maintenance risks.
