Fire Pipe Clamp Basic Structure and Application Scope
2026-09-15 03:06:59
Fire pipe clamp serves as a fundamental mechanical fitting widely adopted in fire protection water supply systems. It provides stable support, positioning and connection for fire pipes, including standpipes, horizontal mains and sprinkler branch pipes inside buildings.Different from repair clamps designed for leakage stoppage, fire pipe clamps mainly undertake load bearing and pipe fixing functions, restraining pipeline displacement caused by water hammer, thermal expansion and building vibration.
The main body of fire pipe clamp is usually made of galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel.Galvanized treatment can effectively resist moisture and mild corrosion in pipe shafts, basements and ceiling cavities. Most products adopt split hoop structure, consisting of clamp shell, rubber cushion and fastening bolts. The rubber lining can reduce vibration transmission between pipe and clamp, avoid metal direct contact and prevent abrasion on galvanized pipe outer wall during long term operation.
In building fire protection design, fire pipe clamps must be arranged according to specified spacing requirements.Proper installation can limit pipeline sway under water hammer impact during fire discharge.Improper spacing or insufficient fastening will lead to pipe displacement, joint loosening and hidden leakage risks. These clamps are compatible with galvanized steel pipes, ductile iron pipes and some CPVC fire pipes used in sprinkler and hydrant systems.
During construction, operators need to match clamp specifications with pipe outer diameter. The contact surface between clamp and pipe should be fitted evenly.Excessive bolt tightening may deform thin wall fire pipes, while insufficient tightening will reduce supporting capacity. After installation, visual inspection is required to check for clamp loosening, rubber cushion falling off and pipe surface damage.Regular routine inspection is necessary in long term operation to maintain stable support of the whole fire pipeline network.
