Material Selection and Corrosion Resistance of Fire Pipe Clamp
2026-09-15 03:07:23
Material selection directly affects the service life and safety performance of fire pipe clamps. The working environment of fire protection pipelines varies greatly.Indoor pipe wells, underground parking lots and external wall mounted fire pipes face high humidity, condensate water and atmospheric corrosion. The base materials of fire pipe clamps mainly include hot dip galvanized carbon steel and stainless steel.Hot dip galvanized carbon steel has cost advantages and sufficient mechanical strength for conventional indoor fire pipeline projects.Stainless steel fire pipe clamps are selected for coastal high salt fog, chemical workshop and permanently humid environments with stronger corrosion risk.
The built in rubber cushion is an important auxiliary component.EPDM rubber is commonly used for its good ageing resistance, water resistance and low temperature stability. It buffers vibration and avoids galvanic corrosion between different metal materials.Rubber materials need to maintain physical stability under long term static compression, preventing hardening, cracking and falling off which will weaken pipeline support.
Material compatibility assessment should be conducted before project selection. When clamps are matched with different pipe materials, contact corrosion between dissimilar metals must be avoided.Surface coating integrity inspection is required before installation.Any scratches damaging galvanized or passive film will become corrosion starting points and gradually reduce structural strength during long term service.
Regular inspection of clamp surface corrosion is essential during fire system maintenance.Minor surface rust can be treated with anti rust coatings. When corrosion pits appear on load bearing parts, the clamp should be replaced in time to eliminate risks of pipeline falling and system failure in fire emergency scenarios.
