Flange Adapter Used for Water Supply Pipeline Renovation Project

Municipal and building water supply pipeline renovation often faces the problem of mismatched connection forms between old pipelines and new equipment.Old pipelines may be made of cast iron or steel with plain ends,while newly replaced valves,flow meters and pressure gauges adopt flange connections.Direct cutting and welding bring complicated procedures and long water cut duration.Flange adapter becomes an economical transition solution for such retrofit projects.

Flange adapter can be installed on existing pipe ends without large scale pipe replacement.It allows quick conversion from plain pipe end to flange interface,reducing construction scope and shortening water supply interruption time.For buried water pipelines,the compact structure of flange adapter fits limited excavation space.

Before installation,the old pipe wall thickness and pipe roundness need inspection.Severe ovality or wall thinning will affect sealing effect.Pipe outer surface should be cleaned to remove sediment,rust and old coating.After assembly,pressure holding test confirms no leakage.In long term operation,underground flange joints are prone to external soil corrosion,so coating and cathodic protection may be required according to soil conditions.

Routine inspection of above ground and accessible buried flange adapters should be arranged.Timely maintenance avoids water leakage and pressure loss.In pipeline renovation projects,flange adapters greatly improve construction efficiency and reduce engineering cost.
