Flange Adapter Application in Building Fire Protection Piping

Building fire water supply systems contain many flange connected equipment including fire pumps,control valves,backflow preventers and pressure reducing valves.Pipe sections connected to such equipment may be grooved,threaded or plain ended.Flange adapter is widely used to convert non flange pipe ends into flange interfaces,simplifying connection between fire pipes and fire fighting equipment.
In sprinkler and hydrant systems,grooved fire pipes are popular for fast site assembly.When grooved pipes need to connect to flanged fire valves,flange adapter acts as transition fitting.It adopts mechanical assembly and avoids field welding,eliminating fire hazards during construction inside buildings.This is especially valuable in shopping malls,office buildings and high rise buildings with finished interior decoration.
Flange adapters for fire systems must meet corresponding pressure requirements for fire water pipeline.They can absorb minor pipeline displacement from thermal expansion and vibration.When maintenance is needed,the flange joint can be disassembled conveniently without cutting pipe sections.This greatly shortens system downtime during valve or pump overhaul.
After installation,hydrostatic pressure test is required together with the whole fire pipeline.Regular fire inspection includes checking flange joints for seepage,bolt rust and gasket ageing.The application of flange adapters improves the maintainability and construction efficiency of building fire protection piping networks.
